Music video analysis
Beyonce- single ladies:
In this music video by Beyonce for the song 'single ladies', the dancers and main lead singer are presented as the stereotypical image of what women are supposed to be like. Such as beautiful confident, petite and popular. Therefore people could argue that the video supports the male gaze theory as it could be aimed at male viewers as they are more active than females who are passive. Outside of the video Beyonce is a symbol of power and a courageous women. Therefore in the video she could empower the women watching it as they feel proud to be represented by such a powerful and confident woman.
Sean Kingston- party all night:
In this music video by Sean Kingston he reinforces the typically stereotype of teenagers. Older generations often look down on teenagers as they assume all teenagers drink lots of alcohol and party every night. Therefore this music videos supports this as all the actors and lead singer party throughout the weekend. Furthermore in the video one of the lyrics is 'We outta control'. This also reinforces the stereotype of teenagers as they are known for taken illegal substances and drugs so it could show that they have taken something which affects their behaviour.
Beyonce- Run the world:
In this video by Beyonce, for 'run the world', she challenges the typical stereotype of women. Women in older generations are seen as passive and subordinate to men. They were meant to stay at home, cook, clean and look after children. Therefore in this song and video Beyonce challenges this representation of women as she states they 'run the world'. This shows that women are powerful and can run large businesses and defy the typically stereotypes that they are attached to.
