Movie poster analysis

Image
It: The colours on the movie advertisement have different connotations which helps us as the audience understand what the film is based around and what it will entail. For example the black background could symbolise death and evil which leads us to believe the movie is a scary thriller. The colours red and yellow stand out on the black background. Red could have connotations of blood and aggressive behaviour which also could lead us to believe the film is based around the topic of death. Another example of non-verbal communication is the body language of the human in the movie advertisement. From the image we jump to the conclusion that the person is a young child who is staring up towards a deep red balloon. The image looks eerie and the boy looks lonely so therefore as an audience we think the film relates to death and evil. On the deep red balloon there is also a reflection of a clown. Most clowns are normally humorous and funny, however this one looks like he is ready to atta...

lauren: In this scene from EastEnders Lauren is portrayed as an alcoholic who has a very aggressive temper. Within the first few seconds of the clip we automatically assume she has a problem with controlling her alcohol intake so the audience may stereotype her into a certain category. In modern media teenagers are often known to be trouble causers and are normally liable to drinking lots alcohol therefore Lauren's behaviour reinforces the stereotype and leads older generations to believe most teenagers act in this way . Towards the end of the clip Lauren punches Lucy which may be shocking to some viewers as it goes against the normal stereotype of women who are meant to be formal and are commonly known to be prim and proper. This shows Lauren's character challenges the normal stereotype that women are controlled and formal.   Lucy: Lucy on the other hand can be seen as a foil to Lauren as their apperence and personality are different. Lucy is presented as a formal ...

Construction of representations in news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-41263147 In the BBC news article the author has constructed it by choosing certain language to represent how the fire unfolded during the early hours of the morning. In the article it uses the word 'trapped' which shows to the audience that the pupils of the school were engulfed by the fire and experienced panic and chaos before there death. The article also shares with the audience the age of the school children who are aged 13-17. The newspaper may have purposely constructed the article with the ages in it as it impacts the audience who may be shocked by the thought that the victims of the fire were only teenagers and may not have experienced life to the fullest before their death. In the article, BBC have used images to represent the aftermath of the situation. One of the images shows the family of a victim looking devastated and upset. This represents to ...
