Stereotype film analysis

She's the man: In the film 'She's the man' the main character challenges the typical stereotype of women as she plays football. In the film the woman, viola, pretends to be her twin brother in order to play on the football team as girls are not allowed on.  This reinforces the typical stereotype that football is only for men and women should not be allowed to play. However throughout the film viola challenges this stereotype by perusing her career as a footballer whilst dressed up as a man. However, the other females in the film reinforce typical women's stereotypes as they are feminine and act like a women 'should'.  Olivia and Monique represent the attitudes of most teenage girls at collage. They obsess over males, wear lots of makeup and dress in short skirts and tops to attract attention. The use of mis-en-scene allows us to follow Violas double life. In the film the group of main characters and there paths all cross over allowing Violas real i...

Representations

Representations: How is the main female character represented? - At the beginning of the film the main character is presented as an innocent women who is in love.       This is portrayed to us by the music played in the background of the opening scene. The music is         calming and soothing. It is also portrayed to us by the setting and the speech. The main character in     the film who is an art student is in a flower shop choosing a rose to send to her loved one. She then     continues to ride a bicycle with the romantic music playing. This is an example of non diegetic           sound as we as the audience can hear the music but the actor can't. As the film progresses we feel       sympathetic towards the lead actress as it is revealed she is in love with a married man and it is           suggested that he has just used and manipulated her. However there is a...

Advert

Image
Water advert: In the advert for H20 i decided to have the background image of a refreshing waterfall. This shows that the water is hydrating and clean. The fruit that is exploding out of the top of the bottle represents that the water is tasty and has a flavour to it. Throughout the advert i wanted to keep it plain and simple. Therefore the text i choose was a simple font which looks like it has been hand written which makes it more personal and appealing. Furthermore i also decided to keep the logo for the water simple. I decided to choose a water droplet with the name of the brand H2O throughout the middle. I used the same font style as i used for the slogan so it all matches and it looks professional.

Advert key messages

Image
Old spice advert: In the advert the key message is that the deodorant is worn by strong and well off men. The use of anchorage portrays the message that the aftershave should only be used by real, powerful, business men. The background image is an example of mythology as the advert is set on a beach. This could represent that the deodorant is fresh and tropical. All of the colours in the advert are bright and light so therefore it could represent the deodorant being refreshing and clean. Dolce and Gabbana advert: In the Dolce and Gabbana the key message is that the fragrances are high end and are represented on posh and well off people. In the advert mythology is used as the advert is black and white. this could represent that the perfume is a classic scent which is similar to that of when it was originally made in older generations. The people in the photo look joyful and happy which could symbolise that they are in a relationship. This was intentionally done by the creator a...

Magazine representations

Image
In this magazine women footballers are being represented as talented and are challenging the typical stereotype. Steph Houghton in shoot magazine is said to be the City women's and England women's captain therefore she is in a position of power as women in older generations were seen as passive and below men therefore this challenges the typical stereotype. Houghton also appears before the men footballers such as Diego Costa who is well known and has been an important player for Chelsea in previous years. This could therefore show that women's football could be increasingly becoming more popular and important as she is the main star on the front of the magazine. Overall the Magazine front cover challenges normal stereotypes of women as football is seen as a mans sport and many people believe women should not play it. Therefore Steph Houghton is defying the stereotype of women and helping raise awareness for the growth of women's football. In...
