Poldark analysis: How does the clip create intrigue, excitement or interest for the audience? Sound - echo's when flashback, Dark undertone to music foreshadows danger and death, changes when violence starts to show the pace of the action. Symbolic props - The ring shown twice leaves the audience to ask questions about its importance, meaning and where it came from. Flashback - Leads us to question who the women is and why he left her.  Action scene - The sudden change from a peaceful environment to the action scene leads us to question why they are fighting. An audience member who has no knowledge of the time period may question the reasons why they are fighting.  What is the genre? - historical drama - The costumes worn by the characters show the time period which leads us to believe it is set in the past.  - Date written on the screen. - The way the actors talk, formal and similar to previous generations and not like modern day accents....

Camera work and editing: Saving Private Ryan opening scene: In the opening scene of 'Saving Private Ryan' many different camera angles and shots are used to show the brutality of the Second World War. In the opening frames of the film we see an establishing shot which shows around 6 boats carrying soldiers across the sea with a strong current. A tracking shot is used so we move with the speed boats. This allows us to experience what the soldiers are experiencing as the camera moves with the strong current and shows how the soldiers are soaked with water on their journey. When the action begins we see an over the shoulder shot from the point of view of the German soldiers waiting on the hill for the British/American soldiers to attack. This allows us to view the spacial surroundings of the action as we see that the soldiers getting out of the speedboats are at a disadvantage. Hawaii Five O

Hawaii five o: 1.) How does the programme show the crime drama genre? The programme shows the crime drama by the use of Mis-en-scene and the narrative. The narrative shows the story unfolding and this particular episode follows one of the five o agents being trapped in a prison. The costumes worn by the agents portray the crime genre as they wore bullet proof vests which leads the audience to think they will be entering a crime scene.  2.) How is gender represented in the programme? In the programme from my opinion i think that gender in some ways is represented equally. One reason for this is because within the five o agents their are women officers. This challenges the typical stereotypes of women as they are normally seen as inferior therefore this is flipped and in the programme they are strong and violent. However in the programme the male agents reinforce the traditional stereotypes surrounding them. This is because males are meant to be masculine and powerful and ...
